Full Potential

When I created this blog, it was the aftermath of  a core-shaking epiphany that resulted in my questioning of everything about my daily life.  It was honestly terrifying. It was a moment of brutal truth and clarity when I realized that I have somehow wandered from my path in life. That path does not include where I currently stand…utterlly lost.

What happened to my dreams, ambitions, and hobbies that once made me who I am? I no longer run insane distances, spend hours drawing and writing while listening to music, or feel that I am closer to complete happiness in my career.  That one is a biggie…as I don’t think I am any closer to becoming an author than I was a year ago.

It’s time to put up or shut up, and I can feel it in my bones…every fiber.

Here are 5 signs that you’re ready to reach your full potential:

1. You feel it in your gut.

Deep down, you feel that something is missing. This may feel like a lightness or a weight, or a pull toward something that you can’t quite describe yet. It feels like a sense of anticipation that won’t be met unless you take action.

2. You daydream about what’s possible.

You frequently find yourself in your head, picturing details of a future that makes you feel so excited. You are aware that your current life does not match up with this vision, and part of you really loves the daydreaming—because it feels like that vision is the way things were meant to be.

3. Inspiring stories move you.

When you read or hear stories of people that are doing unusual or amazing things, you feel a pang of excitement and motivation. That part of you that is “ready” resonates with tales of others that were ready and moved to the next level. This feeling can range from sheer thrill to jealousy, but it’s triggered by stories of people doing things that you know you could do, but haven’t—yet.

4. You can’t shake the nagging voice.

No matter how much you try to focus on your work, or be grateful for your current circumstances, you keep sensing this little nag that says “This isn’t enough, this isn’t right, keep looking, keep going, I know it’s out there.” And when you sense this nag, you can tell it’s onto something.

5. You know it’s time.

At your core—underneath everybody’s expectations, all your obligations, your conversations—underneath all that, at your very, very core—you just know.

Simple Homemade Scrub

Scrub Facts:

(1) promote increased blood circulation

(2) fight cellulite (esp. scrubs with caffeine or coffee)

(3) open and cleanse pores

(4) remove dry itch and flakiness

(5) good to use before tanning to promote an even tan

(6) nourish and moisturize you skin

(7) can be used as a shaving “cream”

(8) can be used as a one-minute manicure or pedicure


Combine and mix all ingredients and scrub-a-dub!

Made of Flaws

I am undeniably full of flaws. I know and recognize them all too well. While sometimes they make me cringe uncomfortably, oddly most of the time I fully embrace them as my own. I believe that owning your flaws is the most important step in self-growth. Until you love your own flaws, you will never love who you really are inside. Every mistake I ever made is a part of me, and I am entirely whole because of them.

Three Simple Rules in Life

This morning I arose from my splendid slumber feeling completely rejuvenated and rather spiritedly because it’s Friday.  The fact that it’s payday does not hurt either.  I have been struggling much lately with the fact that I feel bound by many obligations that I feel are inhibiting my dreams and complete happiness. 

I am in need of some serious life changes that require me to woman up and just make and stand by my decisions.  I heard a quote yesterday that was something like, “A weak man has doubts before a major decision; A strong man has them after.”  I am being weak. 

With that said, I don’t want to be weak anymore, and neither should you. Happy Friday!

Cinco de Mayo Skinny Margarita

Cinco de Mayo is this weekend, and there’s no better way to indulge and behave inappropriately than with guilt-free margaritas!

  • 2 ounces clear tequila
  • splash fresh lime juice
  • splash  triple sec or Grand Marnier
  • ice
  • salt(optional)
  • lime wedge


  1. Rub lime wedge around rim of glass.
  2. Dip edge of glass in salt or sugar.
  3. Place desired amount of ice in glass.
  4. Pour all other ingredients over ice.
  5. Garnish with lime wedge.

Glamour magazine published this list titled “30 Things Every Woman Should Have and Should Know by the Time She’s 30.” , written by Pamela Redmond Satran.  Because this list is so awesome, I am posting it on my site for your enjoyment with the link included below. 

By 30, you should have:

  1. One old boyfriend you can imagine going back to and one who reminds you of how far you’ve come.
  2. A decent piece of furniture not previously owned by anyone else in your family.
  3. Something perfect to wear if the employer or man of your dreams wants to see you in an hour.
  4. A purse, a suitcase and an umbrella you’re not ashamed to be seen carrying.
  5. A youth you’re content to move beyond.
  6. A past juicy enough that you’re looking forward to retelling it in your old age.

Summer roasted vegetables

Servings Per Recipe: 6
Cost per serving: $1.10
Prep time: 15 min. Cook time: 45 min. Total: 1 hr.

1 Tbsp olive oil $0.11
1 medium yellow onion $0.70
1 tsp minced garlic $0.08
1 medium zucchini $0.71
1 medium yellow squash $0.85
1 medium potato $0.91
1 medium tomato $1.65
1 tsp dried thyme $0.05
to taste salt & pepper $0.05
1 cup shredded Italian cheese $1.49
TOTAL   $6.60

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Finely dice the onion and mince the garlic. Saute both in a skillet with olive oil until softened (about five minutes).

While the onion and garlic are sauteing, thinly slice the rest of the vegetables.
Spray the inside of an 8×8 square or round baking dish with non-stick spray. Spread the softened onion and garlic in the bottom of the dish. Place the thinly sliced vegetables in the baking dish vertically, in an alternating pattern. Sprinkle generously with salt, pepper, and thyme.

Cover the dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil, top with cheese and bake for another 15-20 minutes or until the cheese is golden brown.  Bon appétit!
